The source material is video sequences of landscape shots, which were recorded in rapid camera movement and further processed by Butsch for the artistic context. In addition to the blurring of colours and light already achieved during recording, the defining creative element here is Butsch’s virtuoso handling of the temporal sequence of her visual set pieces. In doing so, Butsch breaks the continuity of the movement of the image by dissecting it in time, thereby gaining a highly energetic visual dynamic that is generated by short, staccato sequences of still images.The lack of a time-rigid coupling of the individual projections, the different lengths of the respective projection sequences and the synchronous fluctuations of the playback devices result in randomly controlled varying temporal references of the projections to each other.
